Today November 12, 2023. The European Copernicus observatory predicts the year 2023 as the hottest in history. Data was collected from January 1, 1940 until September 30, 2023. And looking at the curve, we can see that it exceeds the value of 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial period, that is, a value of 1.5 degrees Celsius above the time when there was no industrial system as a bad limit. And in some periods of 2023, global heat exceeded this value. In the Paris agreement, the aim was not to allow the world to experience an increase of 2 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial period. But what it seems is that we are very close to overcoming it, and there is still the effect of “El Ninho” for the year 2024. Brazilian areas going from being semi-arid to arid, droughts in the Amazon, wars that increase the cost of fossil fuels and increases the amount of greenhouse warming gases. What we have are strong global actions that lead us to violate the 2 degrees Celsius of the Paris agreement.
