Many do not know the real meaning of the term "marriage" and its related terms, but this text can help you better understand the meaning and origin of some words in this context:
We see that the word "Patrimony" comes from the Latin "patrimoniu" which means (patri, pai + monium, received) that is, "received from the father" . The term "matrimony" has its origin in the radical "mater" which means "mother" and " monium (monium)" which means "received" , so following the same lexical model of "patrimony" the term "matrimony" means "received from the mother" . Therefore, we see that, the terms "equity" and "marriage" and are,
We see that the word "marriage" is derived from the term "home". Etymologically "marriage" is "forming a home".
"Marryage" comes from the French term "marry" which means "young marya" , that is "to take young marya ".
We find in the Scriptures several terms related to marriage, union, giving ... but with different origins and meanings in which the translators determined with a single term: "marriage" , see:
In Song of Solomon we find:
"We have a little sister, who still has no breasts; what will we do for our sister, on the day she is asked to marry ? Sing 8: 8
Already in the Book of Daniel we find:
"As for what you saw of iron mixed with mud, they will be mixed by marriage ; but they will not bond with each other, just as iron does not mix with clay. Daniel 2: 43
In the New Testament we have:
"For in the resurrection nor marry nor are given in marriage , but are as the angels in heaven." Matthew 22:30
Thus, etymologically speaking (γαμέω - gameō -gam-eh'-o) "uniting" is different from "marryage" (taking a young woman), which is different from "marriage" ( "uniting" , derived from the term "union" or "unite" which is linked to the verse below:
"Therefore a man will leave his father and mother, and " be united " with his wife, and they will be one flesh." Genesis 2:24
"If a priest's daughter marries a stranger, she will not eat of the high offering of sacred things. Leviticus 22:12
Thus, the correct term for the concept of the relationship between man and woman is "union" , and this union "union" occurs when they become "one flesh" . Anything other than that is a human institution and relative to man's idealism. Thus, when a man "joins" with a woman, the term "one flesh" (γαμέω) is made, determined in Genesis 2:24 by God.
