Phosphine makes up a phosphorus atom with 3 of hydrogen.
Its natural formation can be seen in the formula.
In an oxygen environment, this substance could not be formed from hydrogen. But Venus is not a planet rich in oxygen, but a highly hot planet, rich in hydrogen, and acidic products. So a lot of energy and a lot of hydrogen concentration, phosphine is easily produced. What would not happen on planet earth, which is rich in oxygen, and an environment with a pH close to 7.
Phosphorus is different from carbon, since phosphorus is in the same line as Nitrogen, and nitrogen makes bonds much more stable than carbon. So, if it is already extremely complicated, large molecules with carbon, spontaneously, imagine bonds of the type nitrogen and hydrogen. Thus, the formation of compounds with two different types of atoms, can be done by electrical discharges, such as nitrites and nitrates in the Earth's atmosphere. In this way, phosphorus from the same nitrogen family can form phosphine. Thus, ionizable environments can generate phosphine. So much has been determined that in the atmosphere of Venus rays are produced, as the planet's ionosphere is extremely charged.
So the theory that Phosphine is a sign of life for Venus, is merely a desperate search to try to prove the evolution of species and the emergence of spontaneous life.
