Many countries in the world are studying soy as a product capable of preventing a number of diseases, in addition to rehabilitating patients. World medical congresses already include soy in their discussions and signal soy as a synonym for health.
Research from all over the world has already confirmed: diets rich in fiber and low in saturated fat, combined with physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle, can help control obesity and protect against cardiovascular disease, cancer, osteoporosis and diabetes.
Numerous research carried out by the medical field in Japan, China, the United States and Europe has scientifically proven the benefits of soy in preventing chronic diseases such as:

Heart

Intake of 25 grams per day of soy protein reduces LDL, the bad cholesterol, by 33%.
Menopause

Soy alleviates the discomforts of the climacteric, such as night sweats and hot flashes.
Cholesterol

High levels of blood cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol are associated with cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction and arteriosclerosis. Research from the American Heart Association (AHA) has shown that eating soy protein reduces LDL-cholesterol levels. Patients followed for four weeks by AHA doctors, who had the addition of soy proteins to their diets - without any other changes - showed a reduction in LDL-cholesterol levels of around 33%. Thus, the introduction of a small amount of soy protein in the daily diet, about 20g which is equivalent to 50g of grains, is enough to get your blood and heart in shape.

Cancer prevention

Soya beans contain a unique compound called genistein, also called phytoestrogen or plant hormone, which has a moderate estrogenic action, which acts to prevent cancer related to estrogen. Research conducted in Japan, the United States and Europe has shown that daily intake of soy-based foods such as tofu (soy cheese), miso, natto and tempe (oriental cuisine specialties) reduces the risk of breast and prostate cancer by 50%.

Soy and its derivatives also have a preventive action on colon, rectum, stomach and lung cancers. For tumors to increase in size, new blood vessels must be developed. Blocking this process is seen as a potentially important way to control cancer. Genistein also inhibits the formation of these vessels and, consequently, the development of cancerous tumors.

Osteoporosis

With aging, people lose calcium, which often results in osteoporosis. At menopause, this process is aggravated by ovarian hormonal deficiency. Due to its estrogenic action, soy genistein can maintain bone structure. Bone densiometry tests show that soy consumption delays osteoporosis due to age, as well as significantly reducing total bone loss.

Atherosclerosis

The plant hormone isoflavone makes the arteries more flexible and reduces the disease rate.

Diabetes and other diseases

Soy fibers play an important role in regulating blood glucose levels, as they delay their absorption. This reduction in the speed of glucose absorption helps in controlling diabetes. There is evidence that soy consumption has a positive effect on the control of other diseases such as hypertension, lithiasis (gallstones) and kidney diseases.

Five thousand years of history

Soy is a legume domesticated by the Chinese for about 5,000 years. Its oldest species, wild soybeans, grew mainly in the low, humid lands, next to the reeds near the lakes and rivers of Central China. Three thousand years ago, soy spread across Asia, where it began to be used as food. It was in the early twentieth century that it began to be grown commercially in the United States. Since then, there has been a rapid growth in production, with the development of the first commercial cultivars.

In Brazil, the grain arrived with the first Japanese immigrants in 1908, but it was officially introduced in Rio Grande do Sul in 1914. However, the expansion of soy in Brazil happened in the 1970s, with the growing interest of the oil industry and the demand the international market.
