BUNDLE.A bundle of money is spoken of in Gen_42:35, of myrrh in Son_1:13, of life in 1Sa_25:29 (on wh. see Exp. Times, xvii. 435); also in Jer_10:17 RVm [Note: Revised Version margin.] a bundle for a journey (see Drivers Jer. p. 354); and in NT of tares (Mat_13:30) and of sticks (Act_28:3).

bun?d'l: Represents in English Versions of the Bible the words ceror, from a verb meaning ?cramp? ?bind,? etc. (Gen_42:35; 1Sa_25:29; Son_1:13); cebheth, from a verb probably meaning ?to grasp? (Rth_2:16); and δἐσμη, désemē, from δέω, déō, ?to tie up,? ?bind,? hence, literally ?bundle,? just as the English word is derived from ?bind? (Mat_13:30); and πλῆθος, plḗthos, properly ?multitude.? The custom of binding up precious things in bundles (compare Son_1:13) is the basis of the very interesting metaphor in 1Sa_25:29 : ?The soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with Yahweh thy God,? or perhaps better, ?in the bundle of the living in the care of Yahweh? - an assurance of perfect safety.

Son_1:13 (c) All of GOD's gracious loving kindnesses and mercies are grouped by the Psalmist, as a bundle is wrapped together.
Mat_13:30 (a) This represents unsaved people bound together according to their associations on earth - gamblers with gamblers, thieves with thieves, harlots with harlots, etc. Each kind is bound together and made to suffer together in hell. They fellowshipped together on earth in their sins - now they are bound for punishment in eternity.

Bundle
(צְרֹר, tseror'; δέσμη), signifies any thing bound together and tied up for future disposal (Son_1:13; Mat_13:30; Job_14:17). It is also used of a sum of money in a purse (Gen_42:35; Pro_7:20). SEE BAG. The speech of Abigail to David (1Sa_25:29) may be thus rendered: The life of my master is bound up in the bundle of the living by Jehovah, or written in the book of the living. In Act_28:3, the original word is πλῆθος, an armful, literally a
multitude, as elsewhere rendered.
