(1) כּלוב, kelūbh, father of Mehir (1Ch_4:11); the name is probably a variation of Caleb. Wellhausen (De gentibus et familiis Judaeis) reads כּלב בּן חזרון, kālēbh ben ḥezrōn].

Chelub
(Hebrews Kelub´, כְּליּב, a cage, as in Jer_5:27), the name of two men.
1. (Sept. Χαλέβ.) The; brother of Shuah and rather of Mehir, of the tribe of Judah (1Ch_4:11). B.C. appar. ante 1612.
2. (Sept. Χελούβ.) The father of Ezri, which latter was David's chief gardener (1Ch_27:26). B.C. ante 1014.
