HELKIAS.1. The high priest Hilkiah in Josiahs reign. He is mentioned in 1Es_1:8 = 2Ch_35:8 as a governor of the Temple, subscribing handsomely to Josiahs great Passover; in 1Es_8:1 (cf. Ezr_7:1) as the great-grandfather of Ezra; and in Bar_1:7 as father of Joakim, who was governor of the Temple in the reign of Zedekiah. 2. A distant ancestor of Baruch (Bar_1:1.) 3. The father of Susanna (Sus 229).

hel-kı̄?as (חלקיּה, ḥilḳı̄yāh; Χελκίας, Chelkı́as; the King James Version Chelcias):
(1) Father of Susanna (Susanna verses 2, 29, 63). According to tradition he was brother of Jeremiah, and he is identified with the priest who found the Book of the Law in the time of Josiah (2Ki_22:8).
(2) Ancestor of Baruch (Baruch 1:1).
(3) Father of Joiakim the high priest (Baruch 1:7). The name represents HILKIAH (which see).
