HORESH.The word hôresh means wooded height in Isa_17:9, Eze_31:3, 2Ch_27:4, and this is probably its meaning in 1Sa_23:15 (cf. 1Sa_23:16; 1Sa_23:18), although some would make Horesh a proper name, as in RVm [Note: Revised Version margin.] .

(בּחרשׁה, ba-ḥōreshāh), the particle ?in? being combined with the article): Ḥōresh in other passages is translated ?forest? (compare 2Ch_27:4; Isa_17:9; Eze_31:3) and it is most probable that it should be so translated here.
