IBLEAM.A town belonging to West Manasseh (Jos_17:11, Jdg_1:27). It is mentioned also in 2Ki_9:27 in connexion with the death of king Ahaziah, who fled by the way of Beth-haggan and the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam. The Biblical data seem to be well satisfied by the modern ruin Bel ame, some 13 miles E. of N. of Samaria, more than half-way to Jezreel.
In 2Ki_15:10 (AV [Note: Authorized Version.] and RV [Note: Revised Version.] ) before the people should certainly be emended to in Ibleam. Gath-rimmon of Jos_21:25 is a scribal error for Ibleam. It is the same place that is called Bileam in 1Ch_6:70.

ib?lē̇-am (יבלעם, yibhle‛ām); A town in the territory of Issachar which was assigned to Manasseh (Jos_17:11). This tribe, however, failed to expel the inhabitants, so the Canaanites continued to dwell in that land (Jdg_1:27). It was on the route by which Ahaziah fled from Jehu. He was overtaken and mortally wounded ?at the ascent of Gur, which is by Ibleam? (2Ki_9:27). The name appears as Bileam in 1Ch_6:70; and it probably corresponds to Belmen of Jth. It is now represented by the ruin of Bel‛āmeh on the West of the valley through which the road to the south runs, about half a mile from Jenı̄n. In 2Ki_15:10, where it is said that Zechariah the son of Jeroboam was slain by Shallum ?before the people,? this last phrase, which is awkward in the Hebrew, should be amended to read ?in Bileam.? Possibly ?Gath-rimmon? in Jos_21:25 is a clerical error for ?Ibleam.?

Ibleam
(Heb. Yibleaim', יַבְלְעָם, people-waster; Sept. Ι᾿αβλαάμ, Ι᾿εβλαάμ [but some codd. occasionally omit]), a city (with suburban towns) within the natural precincts of Issachar, but (with five others) assigned to Manasseh (Jos_17:11, where it is mentioned between Beth-shean and Dor), but from which the Israelites were unable to expel the Canaanites (Jdg_1:27, where it is mentioned between Dor and Megiddo); lying near the pass of Gur, in the vicinity of Megiddo, where Jehu slew Ahaziah (2Ki_9:27). It was assigned as a Levitical city to the family of Kohath (1Ch_6:70, where it is less correctly called BILEAM and mentioned along with Aner as lying within Manasseh); compare Jos_21:25, where it is called GATH-RIMMON (apparently by error; see the Sept., and comp. 1Ch_6:69). According to Schwarz (Palest. p. 148), it is the modern village Jubla, south-west (north-west) of Beth-shean, and about two English miles south of the village Kefrah; but no map has this place, and the indications require a different position. SEE GUR. The site is probably represented by that of Jelanseh, a small village about two and a half miles north of Jenin (Robinson, Researches, 3, 161).
