Smith's Bible Dictionary
By Dr. William Smith.Published in 1863
jē̇-mū?el (ימוּאל, yemū'ēl, meaning unknown): A ?son? of Simeon (Gen_46:10; Exo_6:15) = ?Nemuel? in Num_26:12; 1Ch_4:24.
The Syriac version has ?Jemuel? in the 4 passages, but Gray (HPN, 307, note 6) thinks ?Jemuel? is more probably a correction in Gen than ?Nemuel? in Numbers.

Jemuel
(Heb. Yenmuël', יְמוּאֵל, day-light of God, Sept. Ι᾿εμουήλ, Vulg. Jamuel), the first named of the sons of Simeon (Gen_46:10; Exo_6:15); elsewhere (Num_26:12) called NEMUEL (נְמוּאֵל, Nemuël'; Sept. Ναμουήλ, Vulg. Namuel), apparently by an error of copyists, and his descendants NEMUELITES (Hebrew Nemuëli, נְמוּאֵלַי, Sept. Ναμουηλί, Vulg. Namuelitoe, Num_26:12). B.C. 1856.
