Lo-ruhamah
(Heb. Lo-Rucha'mah, לאֹ רֻחָמָהnot pitied, as it is explained in both contexts, Hos_1:6, Sept. Οὐκ ἠλεη μένη, Vulg. Absque misericordia, and as it is rendered in the Auth.Vers., Hos_2:23, "not obtained mercy"), the name divinely appointed for the first daughter of the prophet Hosea by the formerly dissolute Gomer, a type of Jehovah's temporary rejection of his people by the Babylonian captivity in consequence of their idolatry (Hos_1:6; Hos_2:23; comp. 2:1).
