MANIUS.—According to 2Ma_11:34, Titus Manius was one of two Roman legates who, being on their way to Antloch after the campaign of Lysias against Judæa in the year b.c. 163, sent a letter to the Jews confirming the concessions of Lysias, and offering to undertake the charge of their interests at Antioch in concert with their own envoy. This action would be in accord with the policy the Romans were following towards the Syrian kingdom, and is probable enough. But we have no knowledge from any other source of the presence in the East of any legate called Titus Manius.
