Patrobas
(Πατρόβας, probably for Πατρόβιος, life of his father, see Wolf, Curce, ad loc.), a Christian at Rome to whom Paul sent his salutation (Rom_16:14). A.D. 55. According to late and uncertain tradition, he was one of the seventy disciples, became bishop of Puteoli (Pseudo-Hippolytus, De Sept. Apostolis), and suffered martyrdom together with Philologus on November 4 (Estius). Accordingly the Roman martyrology assigns that day as his anniversary. Like many other names mentioned in Romans 16, this was borne by at least one member of the emperor's household (Sueton. Galba, 20; Martial, Ep. 2:32, 3).
