(1) A son of Elioenai, of the royal house of Judah (1Ch_3:24).
(2) A Levite who assisted Ezra by expounding the Law (Neh_8:7), and was one of those who sealed the covenant with Nehemiah (Neh_10:10). He is called ?Phalias? in 1 Esdras 9:48 (Revised Version).

Pelaiah
[some Pelai'ah] (Heb. Pelayah' פְּלָאיָה[and briefly פְּלָיָה, Neh.], distinguished of Jah, i.e. Jehovah; Sept. Φαλαϊvας, Φαλαϊvα, Φελεία, etc.), the name of two Jews.
1. A Levite who aided Ezra in instructing the people (Neh_8:7). B.C. 445. He afterwards joined in the covenant with Nehemiah (Neh_10:10).
2. Son of Elioenai and a descendant of David (1Ch_3:24). B.C. post 400.
