SHEARING-HOUSE, THE.A place at which Jehu, on his way from Jezreel to Samaria, met and slew the brethren of Ahaziah, king of Judah (2Ki_10:12; 2Ki_10:14). Possibly the original should be left untranslated and appear as a place-name Beth-eked, which has not been identified.

Shearing-house, The. A place on the road between Jezreel and Samaria, at which Jehu, on his way to the latter, encountered forty-two members of the royal family of Judah, whom he slaughtered. 2Ki_10:12; 2Ki_10:14. Eusebius mentions it as a village of Samaria, "in the great plain [of Esdraelon], 15 miles from Legion."
