SHELAH.1. The youngest son of Judah by Shua (Gen_38:5; Gen_38:11; Gen_38:14; Gen_38:26; Gen_46:12, Num_26:20 (16), 1Ch_2:3; 1Ch_4:21). He gave his name to the family of the Shelanites (Num_26:20 (16)). Probably the Shelanite should be read also for the Shilonite of Neh_11:5 and 1Ch_9:5. 2. The son of Arpachshad (Gen_10:24 bis Gen_11:13-15, 1Ch_1:18; 1Ch_1:24, Luk_3:35). 3. Neh_3:15. See Siloam.

(1) The youngest son of Judah and the daughter of Shua the Canaanite (Gen_38:5, Gen_38:11, Gen_38:14, Gen_38:26; Gen_46:12; Num_26:20 (16); 1Ch_2:3; 1Ch_4:21). He gave his name to the family of the Shelanites (Num_26:20 (16)). Probably ?the Shelanite? should be substituted for ?the Shilonite? of Neh_11:5; 1Ch_9:5.
(2) (שׁלח, shelāḥ): The son or (Septuagint) grandson of Arpachshad and father of Eber (Gen_10:24; Gen_11:13 (12), 14, 15; 1Ch_1:18, 1Ch_1:24; Luk_3:35).

Σηλώ), the youngest son of Judah by the daughter of Shuah the Canaanite (Gen_38:5; Gen_38:11; Gen_38:14; Gen_38:26; Gen_41:12; 1Ch_2:2). B.C. ante 1873. His descendants, some of whom are numerated in 1Ch_4:21-23 are called (Num_26:20) Shelanites q.v.). For Shelach (A.V. Shelah, 1Ch_1:18), the son of Arphaxad, SEE SELA.
