A town of Simeon (1Ch_4:32). The statement of Jos_19:7 and Jos_15:42 implies Tochen in Chronicles is another name for Ether, in the shephelah or "low hills" between the mountains of Judah and the maritime low plain.

tō?ken (תּכן, tōkhen, ?task,? ?measure?; Codex Vaticanus Θόκκα, Thókka; Codex Alexandrinus Θόχχαν, Thóchchan): One of the cities of Simeon, mentioned with Rimmen and Ashan (1Ch_4:32). The name does not appear in Joshua's list (Jos_19:7), but in that place the Septuagint gives Thokka, from which we may infer that the name has fallen out in the Hebrew. It is not identified.
