Bekah
(בֶּקִע, be'ka, cleft, i.e. part), a Jewish weight of early use (Exo_38:26), being half a SHEKEL SEE SHEKEL (q.v.), the unit of value
(Gen_24:22, half-shekel). SEE METROLOGY. Every Israelite paid one bekah (about 31 cents) yearly for the support and repairs of the Temple (Exo_30:13). SEE DIDRACHMA.
