Ben-oni
(Heb. Ben-Oni', בֶּןאּאוֹנַי, son of my sorrow, otherwise of my strength, i.e. of my last effort, Hiller, Onomast. p. 300; Sept. translates υἱὸς ὀδύνης), the name given by Rachel in her expiring breath to her youngest son, in token of the death-pangs that gave him birth (Gen_35:18); afterward changed by his father to BENJAMIN SEE BENJAMIN (q.v.).
