(Heb. Beor', בְּעוֹר, a torch; Sept. Βεώρ), the name of two men. SEE BALAAM.
1. The father of Bela (q.v.), one of the kings of Edom (Gen_36:32; 1Ch_1:43). B.C. apparently ante 1618.
2. The father of Balaam, the backsliding prophet (Num_22:5; Num_24:3; Num_24:15; Num_31:8; Jos_13:22; Jos_24:9; Mic_6:5; Deu_23:4). In 2Pe_2:15, he is called BOSOR SEE BOSOR (q.v.). B.C. ante 1618.
