10.253.8.4.8. Os Pais Devem se Familiarizar com Seus Filhos

Não se deve permitir que se erga entre pais e filhos barreira alguma de frieza e reserva. Relacionem-se os pais com eles, buscando compreender-lhes os gostos e disposições, penetrando em seus sentimentos e discernindo o que lhes vai no coração. Pais, deixai que vossos filhos vejam que os amais, e fareis tudo que estiver ao vosso alcance para torná-los felizes. Se assim fizerdes, as necessárias restrições que lhes impuserdes terão incomparavelmente mais peso em seu espí­rito. Governai vossos filhos com ternura e compaixão, lembrando que "os seus anjos nos Céus sempre vêem a face de Meu Pai que está nos Céus". Mat. 18:10. Se quereis que os anjos façam por vossos filhos a obra de que Deus os incumbiu, cooperai com eles, fazendo a vossa parte. Criadas sob a sábia e amorosa guia de um lar verdadeiro, as crianças não terão desejo de ausentar-se em busca de prazer e camaradagem. O espí­rito que prevalece no lar moldará seu caráter; formarão hábitos e princí­pios que serão uma forte defesa contra a tentação, quando deixarem o abrigo do lar e assumirem sua posição no mundo. Parents to Be Acquainted With Their Children.-- No barrier of coldness and reserve should be allowed to arise between parents and children. Let parents become acquainted with their children, seeking to understand their tastes and dispositions, entering into their feelings, and drawing out what is in their hearts. {AH 193.2}

Parents, let your children see that you love them and will do all in your power to make them happy. If you do so, your necessary restrictions will have far greater weight in their young minds. Rule your children with tenderness and compassion, remembering that "their angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in heaven." If you desire the angels to do for your children the work given them of God, co-operate with them by doing your part. {AH 193.3}

Brought up under the wise and loving guidance of a true home, children will have no desire to wander away in search of pleasure and companionship. Evil will not attract them. The spirit that prevails in the home will mold their characters; they will form habits and principles that will be a strong defense against temptation when they shall leave the home shelter and take their place in the world.
