"Aquele que dá testemunho destas coisas diz. Certamente venho sem demora. .Amém. Vem, Senhor Jesus". Apoc. 22:20.
A [segunda] vinda do Senhor tem sido em todos. os séculos a esperança de Seus verdadeiros seguidores. A última promessa do Salvador no monte das Oliveiras, de que Ele viria outra vez, iluminou o futuro a Seus discípulos, enchendo-lhes o coração de alegria e esperança que as tristezas não pode- riam apagar nem as provações empanar. Em meio de sofrimento e perseguição, "o aparecimento do grande Deus e nosso Salvador Jesus Cristo" foi a "bem-aventurada esperança". Quando os cristãos tessalonicenses estavam cheios de pesar ao sepultarem os seus queridos, que haviam esperado viver para testemunharem a vinda de Jesus, S. Paulo, seu instrutor, apontou-lhes a ressurreição a ocorrer por ocasião do advento do Salvador. Então os mortos em Cristo ressurgi- riam, e juntamente com os vivos seriam arrebatados para encontrar o Senhor nos ares. "E assim", disse ele, "estaremos sempre com o Senhor. Portanto consolai-vos uns aos outros com estas palavras". 1 Tess. 4:16-18....
Do calabouço, da tortura, da forca, onde santos e mártires testificaram da verdade, vem através dos séculos a voz de sua fé e esperança. Estando "certos da ressurreição pessoal de Cristo , e, por conseguinte, de sua própria, por ocasião da vinda de Jesus", diz um desses cristãos, "desprezavam a morte, e verificava-se estarem acima dela"....

The hope of the Second Coming
"He who testifies to these things says. Surely I come quickly. .Amém. Come, Lord Jesus." Apoc. 22:20.
The [second] coming of the Lord has been in all. ages the hope of His true followers. The last promise of the Savior on the Mount of Olives, that He would come again, lighted up the future for His disciples, filling their hearts with joy and hope that sorrow can- not laugh quench nor trials dim. Amid suffering and persecution, "the appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ" was the "blessed hope." When the Thessalonian Christians were filled with grief to bury their loved ones, who had hoped to live to witness the coming of Jesus, Paul, your instructor, he pointed them to the resurrection to occur during the coming of the Savior. Then the dead in Christ resurgence laughed, and together with the living be caught up to meet the Lord in the air. "And so," he said, "always be with the Lord.
