Psalms 82, 83 and 84 - God delivers the poor

God is in the congregation of the powerful; he judges among the gods.
Defend the poor and the orphan; do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Deliver the poor and needy; take them out of the hands of the wicked.
They know nothing, nor do they understand; they walk in darkness; all the foundations of the earth falter.
I said, You are gods, and you are all children of the Most High.
However, as men you will die and fall as any of the princes.
Arise, O God, judge the land, for all nations belong to you!
O God, do not be silent! Do not close your ears or be impassive, O God!
For, behold, your enemies are excited, and those who hate you have lifted their heads.
They cunningly form counsel against your people and conspire against your protégés.
So that they may know that you, to whom only the name of JEHOVAH belongs, you are the Most High over all the earth.
How lovely are your tabernacles, LORD of hosts!
My soul is longing and faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out to the living God.
Even the sparrow found a home, and the swallow, a nest for itself and for its offspring, next to your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my god.
Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they will praise you continually.
Blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the flattened paths,
LORD, God of hosts, hear my prayer; bow your ears, O God!
Look, O God, our shield.
For a day in your courts is worth more than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be at the door of the House of my God, than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and a shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; he will not withhold any good from those who walk uprightly.
Lord of hosts, blessed is the man who puts his trust in you.
