No, the Bible never mentioned that the universe is 6 thousand years old. What we have is life on Earth, and its atmosphere is 6 thousand years old.
In the first verse of the Bible we have the verse that says, In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. And when is the beginning?
In Colossians 1 verse 16 we have the concept that in the beginning everything was created, whether invisible or visible. Thus we can read: "for by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions, powers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him."
This means that if we accept 6 thousand years, we would have to say that the angels, the celestial kingdom where God lives, and all visible and invisible beings, would be 6 thousand years old. Which, theologically speaking, would be impossible. Since the angels are placed before the formation of the Earth. And imagining that God's celestial kingdom is 6 thousand years old is, in a way, very difficult to build.
So, what we have is that the universe, whether visible or invisible, would have an unknown time, and life on Earth could be approximated in 6 thousand years.
In Isaiah 66 verse 1 we see "This is what the Lord says: "Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. What kind of house will you build me? Is this my resting place?"
Could you then say that God's throne is only 6 thousand years old? Thus, if heaven is the throne of God, the age of the universe is the time of existence of the throne of God. The basic idea is that the throne of God was created a long time ago, as it involves the dominion of all things that existed and exist.
