buk?et (דּלי, delı̄): The word is found only in Isa_40:15; Num_24:7, in the latter passage in a figurative use. The bucket was doubtless a waterskin with two cross-pieces at the top to fit it for use in drawing water, like those now in use in Palestine. The ordinary word for water-skin is a different one (nō'dh).

Num_24:7 (b) As a gardener waters his garden with buckets of water, so Jacob or Israel would bring blessing to every part of the earth.
Isa_40:15 (b) In this way is described the insignificant character of the great nations of the earth. The earth is compared to a bucket.

Bucket
(דְּלי, deli', or דַּלי, doli', from hanging down), a vessel to draw water with (Isa_40:15); so ἀντλῆμα, in Joh_4:11; spoken metaphorically of a numerous issue (Num_24:7). SEE WATER.
