A Benjamite. Hushim's son; Ahitub's brother. His descendants lived near Lod or Lydda, on the Benjamite hills bordering on Dan, at Ajalon (Yalo). Hushim was the name of a Danite family, so that the two tribes must have intermarried (1Ch_8:11-18).

Elpaal
[many El'paal] (Hebrews Elpa'al, אֶלְפִּ ל, in pause אֶלְפָּ ל, God is his wages; Sept. Α᾿λφαάλ and Ε᾿λφαάλ), the second named of the two sons of Shaharaim (a descendant of Benjamin residing in the region of Moab) by his wife Hushim, and progenitor of a numerous posterity (1Ch_8:11-12; 1Ch_8:18). B.C. cir. 1618. The Bene-Elpaal appear to have lived in the neighborhood of Lydda (Lod), and on the outposts of the Benjamite hills as far as Ajalon (8:12-18), near the Danite frontier.
