1. Children of Giddel were among the Nethinim, who returned from the captivity with Zerubbabel. Ezr_2:47; Neh_7:49.
2. Bene-Giddel, (that is, sons of Giddel), were also among the "servants of Solomon," who returned to Judea in the main caravan. Ezr_2:56; Neh_7:58. (B.C. 536).

Giddel
(Heb. Giddel' גַּדֵּל, perhaps giant; Sept. Γεδδἠλ, Γαδδήλ, Σαδήλ), the name of two men whose descendants or relatives (Bene-Giddel) returned from the captivity with Zerubbabel; perhaps Gibeonites (q.v.).
1. One of the Nethinim (Ezr_2:47; Neh_7:49). B.C. ante 536.
2. One of "Solomon's servants," i.e., perhaps of the Canaanitish tribes enslaved by Solomon (Ezr_2:56; Neh_7:58; compare 1Ki_9:21). B.C. ante 536. SEE SOLOMON.
