GOTHOLIAS (1Es_8:33).Father of Jesalas, who returned with Ezra; called in Ezr_8:7 Athaliah, which was thus both a male and a female name (2Ki_11:1).

goth-ō̇-lı̄?as (Γοθολίας, Gotholı́as): Father of Josias, one of the sons of Elam who returned from Babylon with Ezra (1 Esdras 8:33). The name corresponds to Athaliah, the Greek G being substituted for the Hebrew guttural ‛ayin, as in Gomorrah, Gaza, etc. Taken with 2Ki_11:1, the name would seem to have been used for both men and women.
