HODIAH.1. A man of Judah (1Ch_4:19). AV [Note: Authorized Version.] wrongly takes it as a womans name. 2. A Levite (Neh_8:7; Neh_9:5; Neh_10:10). 3. Another Levite (Neh_10:13). 4. One of those who sealed the covenant (Neh_10:18).

1. One of Mered's two wives. Mother to the fathers or founders of Keilah and Eshtemoa (1Ch_4:19). The same as Jehudijah (but Keil gives reason for Hodiah being a man (See JEHUDIJAH)) "the Jewess" (1Ch_4:18), to distinguish her from his other wife Bithiah ("worshipper of Jehovah"), an Egyptian princess, daughter of Pharaoh, a convert from idolatry.

Hodi'ah. (majesty of Jehovah). One of the two wives of Ezra, a man of Judah. 1Ch_4:19. She is doubtless, the same person as Jehudijah in 1Ch_4:18.

Hodiah
(הוֹדַיָּה, the same as Hodijah [q.v.]), the wife of Mered (Sept. ἣ Ι᾿δουία; Alex. MS. Ι᾿ουδαία), and the mother of Jered, and Heber, and Jekuthiel (1Ch_4:19), the same who is called JEHUDIJAH (הִיְּהֻדַיָּה, the Jewess, i.e. his Jewish wife, as distinguished from Bithiah, who was an Egyptian) in the former part of the verse.
