(1) The altered form of Jehoiachin (Additions to Esther 11:4; Baruch 1:3, 9; Mat_1:11, Mat_1:12). The last but one of the kings of Judah.
(2) The son of Zeelus (1 Esdras 8:92), called ?Shecaniah? in Ezr_10:2.

Jechonias
(Ι᾿εχονίας), a Graecized form of two Hebrew names occurring in the Apocrypha and N.T.
1. In Esther 11:4; Bar_1:3; Bar_1:9; Mat_1:11-12, for king JEHOIAKIN SEE JEHOIAKIN (q.v.).
2. In 1Es_8:92 for SHECHANIAH SEE SHECHANIAH (q.v.), who encouraged Ezra in the matter of divorcing the Gentile wives (Ezr_10:2).
