JEDIAEL.—1. The eponym of a Benjamite family (1Ch_7:6; 1Ch_7:10-11). 2. One of David’s heroes (1Ch_11:45), probably identical with the Manassite of 12:20. 3. The eponym of a family of Korahite porters (1Ch_26:2).
Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible
Edited by James Hastings, D.D. Published in 1909

1. A patriarch of Benjamite heads of houses whose sons numbered 17,200 mighty men in David's days (1Ch_7:6; 1Ch_7:11). Identified with Ashbel (Gen_46:21). But Jediael may have been a later descendant from Benjamin who, by superior fruitfulness of his house, superseded an elder branch (Ashbel's) whose issue failed.
2. Tabernacle doorkeeper under David (1Ch_26:1-2).
3. 1Ch_11:45.
4. Joined David, from Manasseh, on his way to Ziklag just before the battle of Gilboa; he helped David against the Amalekites (1Ch_12:20; 1Ch_12:1 Samuel 29-30).

Jedi'a-el. (known of God).
1. A chief patriarch, of the tribe of Benjamin. 1Ch_7:6; 1Ch_7:11. It is usually assumed that Jediael is the same as Ashbel, Gen_46:21; Num_26:38; 1Ch_8:1, but this is not certain.
2. Second son of Meshelemiah, a Levite. 1Ch_26:1-2.
3. Son of Shimri; one of the heroes of David's guard. 1Ch_11:45. (B.C. 1046).
4. One of the chiefs of the thousands of Manasseh, who joined David on his march to Ziklag. 1Ch_12:20. Compare 1Sa_30:9-10. (B.C. 1053).

jē̇-dı̄?ā̇-el (ידיעאל, yedhı̄‛ă'-ēl, ?God makes known? (?)):
(1) A ?son? of Benjamin or probably of Zebulun (1Ch_7:6, 1Ch_7:10, 1Ch_7:11). See Curtis, Chronicles, 145-49, who suggests emending the name to יחלאל, yaḥle'ēl, Jahleel, in agreement with Gen_46:24.
(2) One of David's mighty men (1Ch_11:45), probably = the Manassite who deserted to David at Ziklag (1Ch_12:20 (Hebrew 21)).
(3) A Korahite doorkeeper in David's reign (1Ch_26:2).

Jediael
[most Jedi'ael] (Heb. Yedial', יְדַיעֲאֵל, known by God; Sept. Ι᾿αδιήλ, Α᾿διήλ, Ι᾿εδιήλ), the name of at least three men.
1. One of the sons of Benjamin (1Ch_7:6), whose sons (1Ch_7:10) and descendants are enumerated as being 17,200 warriors in David's census (1Ch_7:11). He is, perhaps, the same elsewhere called ASHBEL (1Ch_8:1). SEE BENJAMIN; SEE JACOB.
2. A Shimrite (q.v.); one of David's famous bodyguard (1Ch_11:45); probably the Manassite of the same name who joined David's troop at Zikiag (1Ch_12:20). B.C. 1053-1046.
3. A Korhite of the Levitical family of Ebiasaph, second son of Meshelemiah, and one of the gate-keepers to the tabernacle or Temple (1Ch_26:2). B.C. 1014.
