JEREMY.The form in which the name of the prophet Jeremiah appears in both AV [Note: Authorized Version.] and RV [Note: Revised Version.] of 1Es_1:28; 1Es_1:32; 1Es_1:47; 1Es_1:57; 1Es_2:1, 2Es_2:18, as well as in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] of 2Ma_2:1; 2Ma_2:5; 2Ma_2:7, Mat_2:17; Mat_27:9. In the last three passages RV [Note: Revised Version.] has Jeremiah. The form Jeremy is used also in both AV [Note: Authorized Version.] and RV [Note: Revised Version.] in the title of the Epistle ascribed to the prophet in Bar_6:1. See art. Apocrypha, § 10.
