LAISH.1. The original name of the town of Dan (Jdg_18:7; Jdg_18:14; Jdg_18:27; Jdg_18:29). The variation Leshem occurs in Jos_19:47 bis 2. The father of Palti or Paltiel, to whom Michael, Davids wife, was given by Saul (1Sa_25:44, 2Sa_3:15).

(1) A city in the upper Jordan valley, apparently colonized by the Sidonians, which was captured by the Danires and called DAN (which see) (Jdg_18:7, etc.; Isa_10:30 the King James Version). In Jos_19:47 the name appears as ?Leshem.?
(2) A Benjamite, father of Palti or Paltiel, to whom Michal, David's wife, was given by Saul (1Sa_25:44; 2Sa_3:15).
