Smith's Bible Dictionary

mḗ-on?ṓ-thı̄, mḗ-ō?nṓ-thı̄, mē-ṓ-nō?thı̄ (מעונתי, me‛ōnōthai, ?my dwellings?): A son of Othniel, nephew of Caleb (1Ch_4:14). Possibly, as the King James Version margin suggests, and the Vulgate (Jerome's Latin Bible, 390-405 A.D.) and Complutensian Septuagint say, 1Ch_4:13, 1Ch_4:14 should read ?the sons of Othniel, Hathath and Meonothai; and Meonothai begat Ophrah,? etc. The latter may be founder of the town of that name.
