MERONOTHITE.A designation applied in the OT to two men. 1. Jehdeiah (1Ch_27:30). 2. Jadon (Neh_3:7). From the context of Neh_3:7 Meronoth would appear to have been in the neighbourhood of Gibeon and Mizpah.

mḗ-rṓn?thı̄t, mḗ-rō?nṓ-thı̄t (מרנתי, mērōnōthı̄, root meaning ?fertility?): The designation of two persons in the Old Testament:
(1) Jehdeiah, who was in charge of the royal asses under David (1Ch_27:30).
(2) Jadon who was among the repairers of the wall under Nehemiah (Neh_3:7). No place of the name Meronoth can be identified. That Jadon worked on the wall near Gibeonites and Mizpahites affords no clear clue to the place, unless it be shown that there was some geographical rota in the wall repairers.

Meronothite
(Hebrews Meronothi', מֵרֹנֹתַי, gentile from מֵרֹנוֹת. Meronoth', signif. uncertain, a place elsewhere unknown; Sept. ἐκ Μεραθών or Μαραθών, Μηρωνωθύτης,Vulg. Meronothites), an epithet applied to Jehdeiah, the herdsman of the royal asses in the time of David and Solomon (1Ch_27:30), and also to Jadon, one of those who repaired the walls of Jerusalem (Neh_3:7); apparently as being natives of some town called MERONOTH, of the position or existence of which no other notice is extant, but from the latter passage it may be conjectured to have lain not far from Gibeon and Mizpah, and appears to have been inhabited after the captivity.
