A place mentioned only in Jdg_7:25, in describing the flight of the Midianite host, after Gideon's night attack; (probably the present, Tubukhat-Fahil, a very striking natural bank, 600 feet high, with a long horizontal top, embanked against the western face, of the mountains east of the Jordan, and descending with a steep front to the river. ? tab?ath (טבּת, ṭabbāth; Codex Vaticanus Ταβάθ, Tabáth; Γαβάθ, Gabáth): A place named after Abel-meholah in the account of the Midianite flight before Gideon (Jdg_7:23). It must therefore have been a place in the Jordan valley to the East of Beth-shan. No trace of the name has yet been recovered.

(Heb. Tabbath', טִבָּת, perh. celebrated [Gesenius]; Sept. Ταβάθ v.r. Γαβάθ), a place mentioned in describing the flight of the Midianitish host after Gideon's night attack; they fled to Beth-shittah, to Zererath, to the brink of Abel-meholah on (על) Tab- bath (Jdg_7:22). As all these places were in or near the Ghor, Tabbath is probably the present Tubuhhat Fahil, i.e. Terrace of Fahil, a very striking natural bank, 600 feet in height, with a long horizontal and apparently flat top, which is embanked against the western face of the mountains east of the Jordan, and descends with a very steep front to the river (Robinson, Bibl. Res. 3, 325).
