tḗ-hin?a (תּחנּה, teḥinnāh, ?supplication?; Codex Vaticanus Θαιμάν, Thaimán; Codex Alexandrinus Θανά, Thaná; Lucian, Θεενά, Theenná): ?The father of the city Nahash? (1Ch_4:12). The verse seems to refer to some post-exilic Jewish settlement, but is utterly obscure.

(Heb. Techinnah', תְּחַנָּה, supplication, as often; Sept. Θανά v.r. Θαιμάν; Vulg. Tehinna), a name occurring in the obscure list of the descendants of Judah (1Ch_4:12) as the last-named of the three sons of Eshton (q.v.), and grandson of Chelub (q.v.); with the added epithet the father of the city of Nahash (Abi-Ir-Nachash), and the statement These are the men of Rechah (q.v.). From all this, we can only gather that Tehinnah was probably related to the family of David. B.C. cir. 1083. SEE NAHASH.
