Goblet. A circular vessel for wine or other liquid.
Smith's Bible Dictionary
By Dr. William Smith.Published in 1863
gob?let (אגּן, 'aggān): A bowl or basin (Son_7:2), the only place where the word is used. 'Aggān is used in the plural in Exo_24:6 and Isa_22:24, and is translated ?basins? and ?cups.? These ?basins? were used to hold the blood of the sacrifices and must have been of moderate size. The ?cups? were bowl-shaped vessels and belonged evidently to the smaller class of vessels used in a house.

Goblet
(אִגָּן, aggan', prop. a trough for washing garments, hence a laver; Son_7:2, where it is described as being round; elsewhere a sacrificial "basin," Exo_24:6, or pensile drinking "cup," Isa_22:24). In form and material these utensils were probably like those found in the Egyptian ruins, some being of gold or silver, others of bronze, porcelain, and even wood. SEE BOWL; SEE BASIN, etc.
