Miz?peh. This name has the same meaning and application as Mizpah, and is borne by several places mentioned in Scripture.
Mizpeh, 1
A town in the plains of Judah (Jos_15:38). Eusebius and Jerome identify it with a place which, in their time, bore the name of Mapha, on the borders of Eleutheropolis southward, on the road to ?lia or Jerusalem.
Mizpeh, 2
The place more usually called Mizpah, in the tribe of Benjamin, is once called Mizpeh (Jos_18:26) [MIZPAH, 2].
Mizpeh of Gilead, 3
Through or by which Jephthah passed in his pursuit of the Ammonites (Jdg_11:29). Some think it the same with Mizpah, 1; and it is possibly the same with the Ramath-mizpeh of Jos_13:26.
Mizpeh, 4
A valley in the region of Lebanon (Jos_11:8; comp. 11:3).
