(See SACRIFICE.) Eucharistic, indicating that the offerer was already by the atonement at peace with God (Leviticus 3; Lev_7:11-34; Lev_23:19-20). Spontaneous, "at your own will" (Lev_19:5); the only regularly recurring one was that of two firstling lambs at Pentecost. The meat offering on the other hand was regularly ordained. Periods of extraordinary solemnity or joy were the times of peace offerings: as Exo_24:5; Lev_9:18; Jos_8:31; 1Sa_11:15; 2Sa_6:17; 1Ki_8:63; 1Ki_9:25; 2Ch_30:22; see also Jdg_20:26; 2Sa_24:25.
