The ministry of death seems to be something dark, but the word of God says that this ministry was great.

First, we must understand what ministry is. Ministry comes from the Greek term ( διακονία - diakonia ) . Which means teaching, showing, in the sense of being didactic, so you can learn. So death ministry involves learning through death. Many people question why killing lamb, killing oxen, goats, and other animals. For here is the explanation, the ministry of death, teaches man through death.

It seems a dark thing, and even meaningless for God to do. But our worldview is different from the worldview of the men who received the didactics of death. Many people today still have a vision like before, in which the resolution of a problem is through death, a criminal, or the suffering that is caused to a transgressor. Those men who have these thoughts did not evolve into the ministry of grace, in which we must do good to transgressors, so that they will repent and improve their lives.

Thus, God had a hard-necked people in his hands. As the verse says, from Exodus 32: 9, in which it says that Israel was a people with a stiff neck . For a people with a stiff neck, only the didactics of death, and in it was linked a law that the people knew, which was the law of Talion, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Again, such a law was only put in place because of the hard hearts of the people. As we also have the verse in Mark 10: 5 , saying that he left this commandment because of those people's hard hearts.

Thus, it was the only way to teach those obstinate people, through the didactics of death. Thus, we can read in the second letter to the Corinthians 3: 7, in which it says that the ministry of death was covered with glory, and in this teaching, it was also written in stones, quoting the so-called ten commandments. And even this teaching was so great for the hard-hearted Israelites that they could not see the face of Moses.

In fact, the Ten Commandments today are the standard basis for many modern laws. Thus, the didactics of death are so great that several legal norms are still based today. This demonstrates that the teaching of death is not wrong, it is correct, but it was made for individuals with hard hearts. One of the norms of the didactics of death, is the word of God said "you shall not kill". We can see this in Exodus 20:13. This word, defines that we should not kill, this rule is correct and important. In the ministry of death, it was defined that whoever killed should suffer consequences. These consequences were the didactics of death. So much of the people obeyed for fear of the consequences. Many people today work with the same idea. To generate consequences for those who break the law. And many still think that this is the only way. Jesus came to show the ministry of grace, that is, to teach people not to do wrong, without the consequences. Many people cannot accept that this type of teaching works. And they still live by the didactics of death. That a man can only learn if he suffers a consequence, if he disobeys the law.

Turning to the second letter to the Corinthians, we can see that the text says about something much grander than didactics through the Spirit. Didactics through the Spirit does not go against the didactics of death, but it does show that following God out of fear is not viable. In fact, whoever follows God out of fear ends up not accepting God. Thus didactics through the Spirit, define following God because of love. We can also read in the verse, that even though it was glorious that brought condemnation, even more glorious was the one that generates the practice of justice.

But what does that mean? While in the didactics of death, people reduced their crimes for fear of the consequences of breaking the law. In the teaching of the Spirit, in addition to not breaking the law, the person out of love, performs acts of Justice. That was the failure of the didactics of death. She failed to add justice actions for love.

It would be more or less like this. In the teaching of death, a man who violated traffic laws would have to pay a fine. Then he would be afraid to violate, at the cost that would have to be. In the didactics of the Spirit, he would not have a fine, but his education would be based on love. He would see several drivers, not only respecting each other, but helping others. Some would pass by the others, taking them to the service, stop the car to help those who passed by. And so on.

Note that the didactics of love are much more grandiose than the didactics of death, which involved the concept of the lawbreaker paying a fine. But people do not accept this teaching of the Spirit, considering that it is not effective.

In the second letter to Timothy 3: 5 , it is said of these, who deny the effectiveness of godliness. Piety is when someone violates a law, especially against the person, and they have pity, that is, forgive the other person. Many people, who still live in the didactics of death, define that the violator must receive the condemnation, because they say that piety is not effective, and the other person must suffer to learn.

Usually countries that have many convictions are usually the most violent. And countries that are more concerned with culture, and are pious, defining largely human means of learning, tend to have much less criminality than countries that advocate punishment of criminals. And at this point we have the idea of the didactics of death and the didactics of the spirit. Both countries may have the same laws, but lawbreakers in the use of the didactics of the spirit are much less than those who violate the didactics of death. But the law remains the same, what differs is man's heart, one does not violate out of fear, the other does not violate out of love.

In this way, we clearly understand that many people still have their hearts, linked to the didactics of death, when they want the suffering of criminals. And others have the didactics of the spirit, when they want criminals to be transformed, through the understanding and love of other people. But usually those who believe in the didactics of death say that there is no efficacy of piety against criminals.

Many men today, who seek to deny the law, defining that it was abolished because of the didactics of the Spirit, live in their lives the ministry of death, when they condemn other people. While those who understand the ministry of the Spirit, have compassion, and pity for criminals, but do not deny the law. They just see that it is not punishment that really changes someone, but love.

God did not change his law, nor did he change his way of acting, he only used the ministry of death, because of the hardness of man's heart, and through Christ, he showed the ministry of the Spirit, which come through godliness, based on Love.
